Grant 2018


The Committee for Education and Cultural Action (CECA) is one of the oldest International Committees of ICOM. With over 1,000 members coming from about 85 countries, CECA is also one of its largest Committees. Members are professionals working in different sectors of the museum field or in institutions related to this field, as educators, curators, professors, communication agents or interpreters interested in education and cultural action applied to a particular sort of heritage.
The aims of ICOM International Committee for Education and Cultural Action include; the promotion of the development of museum education and cultural action;  providing  an international forum for information exchange and co-operation between professionals, museums and related institutions in order to develop the field of education and cultural action, to discuss its problems and to foresee its evolution;  formulation and implementation of a program of activities for its members;  encourage scientific research;  facilitate the dissemination of knowledge, define and uphold high professional standards; support ICOM's efforts to improve the educational and cultural relationship of the museum world with the public; encourage the young members get more involved in CECA activities in their own countries and internationally.



We announce a call for candidates from all continents to apply for the CECA Young members’ travel grant 2018. This is to encourage CECA young members to participate on Annual Conference in  Tbilisi  from 24th to 27th of September, 2018.


The grants will provide assistance for airfare (economy fare) and/or accommodation through showing and sending proper receipts.  The Conference fee will be provided by CECA to the selected members. Other expenses related to the members’ participation, such as insurance coverage, visa costs, local transportation, meals, will not be covered by these grant, under any circumstances.

Deadline of submitting the application is 1st of April, 2018.

The results will be communicated by 25th of April, 2018.

After submitting your online application form successfully please send:
1- A motivation letter explaining your cause,  
2- Your Curriculum Vitae (maximum 2 pages), 
3- A recommendation letter from the Chair of your National Committee (if possible, if not please explain, why),

4- A recommendation letter from the director of your museum,
5 - Submit an abstract to the Conference Organising Committee for selection (see below) to , with the subject

“CECA Young member Grant Application 2018_Your Name_Your Surname”.

No later than 1st of April 2018.

All grant applicants will be informed on the outcome by 25 April 2018.


1. Be under the age of 35 by DECEMBER 31st of 2017.
2. Be an individual members of ICOM/CECA, for a minimum of two years as of the Grant  application date;
3. Be working in a museum for a minimum of 2 years, as of the application date ( 2018, April 1st;).
4. Should properly communicate in at least one of the three ICOM official languages: English, French and Spanish.
5. Preference will be given to members from the countries belonging to Categories 3 and 4


Grantees will be required;
- To prepare a paper and submit to the Conference Organising Committee for selection,
- They will have to ensure the dissemination about the Conference  and CECA by delivering presentation about their experience with CECA, the Conference and participation for her/his museum colleagues after returning  to their countries from the conference, CECA members in the country, students etc. (please describe in your motivation letter how are you going to implement the dissemination? ) and  
- write a report about the Annual Conference which should include information about the results of grantees participation on the Annual Conference for her/himself, dissemination programme, and benefit for CECA (a proper template will be provided).  The report must be submitted by 30th of October,  2018.
